ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the learning outcome of clinical scenarios discussion im-plemented in teaching medical students before clinical probation. Methods Using standardized pa-tients (SP) to simulate the clinical common difficult situation, all eight year program clinical medicine students (84) of Grade 2008 who were about to enter the clinical probation were given clinical commu-nication education guidance. Through five classification variables questionnaire and return visit, the teaching effect was evaluate. Epidata 3.0 was used to input data, and the SPSS 15.0 was used to make descriptive analysis of the questionnaire and proportion comparison. Results We found 35.4%(29) and 63.4%(52) of subjects liked and approval this training, respectively;90.2%(74) of the subjects thought the diffi-culty of this train was moderate; 77.3% (65) of subjects believed that it was necessary to set the clinical scenarios discussion before clinical probation. Conclusions The implementation of clinical scenarios discussion before clinical probation was effective on inducing the medical students to pay attention to the doctor-patient communication, and deep thinking about the communication notice mat-ters and cop-ing styles in clinical environment.

ABSTRACT

Objective In order to get the research focuses and trend of 8-year medical educa-tion program in China, articles on eight-year medical education program published from 2003 to 2014 have been analyzed. Method Using Cochrane Systematic evaluation method, 797 articles have been achieved from CMB, CNKI, WangFang and VIP. These papers were then analyzed with methods of bib-liometrics and content analysis. Result The articles on eight-year medical education program are mainly published on 4 journals. The publications focus on 10 domains. The domain of teaching method-ology is a hot research topic as 399 articles have discussed this domain. Most articles on teaching methodol-ogy focus on PBL, only a few papers discuss other teaching methods. In the 233 study on the curricu-lum design, only 42 papers have carried on the overall design course study and the researchers have the same opinion on the problems existing in eight-year program medical education curriculum. 19 articles have discussed the goal of eight-year medical education program. The goals of different schools' program are diverse. With the development of policy research, the eight-year medical educa-tion program education standards and accreditation are valued. Conclusion In the future, the research priorities should focus on pedagogy theories, the comparison to other nations' medical education system, and ed-ucation standards of eight-year medical education program.

ABSTRACT

The development of human gut flora, its biological functions of providing resistance to infections and allergy was reviewed. Potential risks of cesarean-section in terms of enteric infections and allergy of new born infants and the efficacy of probiotics and prebiotics in the prevention as well as treatment of infections/allergy were evaluated in this article.

ABSTRACT

Professional development of faculty is an essential component of strategy for medical schools to construct teaching team.Development of education is dependent upon the professional quality of teaching staff.Starting from connotation of faculty's professionalism, this paper compared present status of composition of teaching staff in China with that in foreign countries, explored the potential approaches for medical schools to strengthen the construction and sustainable development of teaching staff.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To construct pBV-BPI600-Fcgamma1(700) recombinant expression vector, to transform it into Escherichia coli DH5alpha, and to induce the expression of BPI23-Fcgamma1 anti-bacterial recombinant protein.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Genes coding for BPI23 and Fcgamma1 were amplified by RT-PCR from mRNA extracted from HL-60 cell and normal human leukocytes; recombinant cloning vector and recombinant expression vector were then constructed. pBV-BPI600-Fcgamma1(700) recombinant expression vector was transformed into the competent Escherichia coli DH5alpha and BPI23-Fcgamma1 recombinant protein was expressed by a temperature-induced method.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>(1) Expected amplified products BPI600hp and Fcgamma1(700bp) were obtained by RT-PCR method. (2) pUC18-BPI180, pUC18-BPI420 and pUC18-Fcgamma1(700) recombinant cloning vector were successfully constructed, and sequences were identical with the reported ones. 3) pBV-BPI600-Fcgamma1(700) recombinant expression vector was successfully constructed, and the enzyme digestion analysis showed an expected result. (4) The expression level of BPI23-Fcgamma1 recombinant protein accounted for 20% of total bacterial proteins. (5) The renatured BPI23-Fcgamma1 recombinant protein showed bacteriocidal activity and biological function of complement fixation, and opsonization.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>pBV-BPI600-Fcgamma1(700) recombinant expression vector was successfully constructed, and BPI23-Fcgamma1 recombinant protein with double biological activity of BPI and IgGFc was expresed in Escherichia coli.</p>

ABSTRACT

Although much studies have been done on the in vitro activity of Interleukin-2 (IL-2) littlework had been made to try to prolong the half life-span of IL-2 in the circulation and thento study the alterations in the in vivo immune response. The small pumps able to feed definiteamounts of IL-2 to maintain sufficent amount of the lymphokine for as long as 10 days wereused.During this time the production of antibody and the cytotoxicity against tumor cells wereassayed. The results showed that IL-2 has no evident effect on the immune response tested invivo and some of the reasons are discussed.
